Welcome! I'm LaVerne Hanes Collins, owner of New Seasons Counseling, Training and Consulting, LLC.   I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, and an ordained Christian minister. I help people embrace new responses to life, and I am passionate about good physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. The name of this page says it all: We are Sisters Living Well. We are renewed women, experiencing a better quality of life by promoting a "Living Well" lifestyle: wise food choices, healthy relationships, positive attitudes, strong faith, and overall self care.  About three years ago, I started sharing wellness tips with a few ladies on FaceBook.  As they began to share the information and inspiration from that page, it began to grow. We are now at over 1,000 women in the FB group and growing.  This page of the New Seasons website houses information for the Sisters Living Well Facebook members and any other woman who desires to live in bio-psycho-social-spiritual health. Here's what coming up:

Mental Health Education is more important in our communities than ever before. Our Women’s Mental Health Education Series will address basic mental health issues with an emphasis on the unique needs of women. In easy-to-understand terms we’ll look at:

  • The signs of common problems such as anxiety, depression and trauma symptoms
  • What can we glean from the Bible about the origins of mental health issues?
  • Risk factors for mental health problems in women
  • The mind/body and food/mood connection: How physical and mental health are interwoven
  • Overcoming the “Gotta be Strong Syndrome” that keeps us from asking for help
  • Gender differences when women seek or receive mental health services
  • Disparities associated with people of color and other minority groups
  • Options for mental health services when help is needed
  • The difference between a Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Licensed Counselor, and Licensed Clinical Social Worker
  • What role does faith have in our mental health?

Why is this topic so important for women?

The year 2020 is just a few months way!  Are you ready? Do you have a 2020 vision?  As we approach a new decade, I want you to know that God's plan for each of us is phenomenal! Even though we're already living it, most of us wonder if we're missing something in fulfillment of our purpose. That's why I am inviting to you to start the new year with our on-line enrichment series: 2020 Vision.

Registration is open now for 8 Saturday sessions that will begin on January 11, 2020 (1-11-2020).

This is much more than identifying your gifts or knowing your purpose or creating the life YOU want. This is about recognizing your thread in the tapestry of God's perfect master plan, embracing it, and knowing the impact that God intends for you everywhere you go.

Let’s not rely on hindsight for our 2020 Vision. We will explore the personal assessment that must precede decisions about business, ministry or career. We'll talk about getting out of your own way with negative thoughts and self-sabotaging habits. We address ways to begin living a life that has direction, is balanced, and supports a well-nourished mind, body, soul and spirit, so you can leave the highly-impacting legacy that is intended for you.
